Kathryn H. Anthony, Ph.D., is its longest serving female faculty member at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaignʼs School of Architecture. Throughout her academic career, Dr. Anthony has served as a catalyst to challenge and change design education and practice, inspiring faculty and professional architects to create more humane learning and working environments. Her work stresses the critical importance of designing for diversity and creating spaces for people.

Dr. Anthony holds the lifetime title of Distinguished Professor from the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture and received national awards from the American Institute of Architects and the Environmental Design Research Association. The author of Designing for Diversity: Gender, Race, and Ethnicity in the Architectural Profession, Design Juries on Trial: The Renaissance of the Design Studio and over 100 publications, she has served as a spokesperson about gender issues in design on ABC World News with Diane Sawyer, National Public Radio, The Chicago Tribune, The Economist, The Los Angeles Times and elsewhere.  The New York Times featured her as its Quotation of the Day, April 13, 2009.
